06 Final group review
Settle the group questions
The questions that feel awkward now are often the ones that save time, money and frustration later.
Can everyone edit the same checklist live?
No. These are local browser tools, not live cloud collaboration. One person can prepare a version, share the text and collect confirmations in the group’s usual channel.
Where is my planning information saved?
The itinerary, equipment checklist and budget use localStorage in this browser. The emergency and contact tools do not automatically save their fields. Copies and downloads are under your control. See Privacy for storage limits and deletion.
Does everyone have to pay the same amount?
No. Agree contributions explicitly, offer a private way to discuss limits and distinguish required costs from optional spending. The worksheet does not assume an equal split. Use the group budget worksheet to make the agreement visible.
What if people have different walking abilities?
Describe terrain, distance, ascent and breaks, then choose a route and pace that suit the agreed group. Offer alternatives without requiring personal disclosures. Do not pressure someone to keep up.
Who is responsible for shared equipment?
Name an owner to check each item and a carrier to pack it. Confirm both roles directly. If nobody has agreed, the task remains unassigned. Add both roles to the equipment checklist where needed.
Is a shared route file enough for navigation?
No. Check current access and conditions, download suitable offline maps, carry appropriate backups and know how to use them. A GPX line does not prove safety or legal access.
What if the weather changes after we have paid?
Reassess the trip against local conditions and the group’s abilities. Shorten, relocate or cancel when appropriate. Money already spent should not determine a safety decision.
Should emergency contacts go in the group chat?
Only share necessary details with permission and with people who need them. A private check-in document may be more suitable. Delete unnecessary copies after the trip.
Can this site monitor our return or contact rescuers?
No. The site does not monitor trips, send check-ins or contact emergency services. Arrange a trusted contact and use the appropriate local emergency service if help is needed.
Finish with a clear confirmation.
Ask everyone: Do you understand the route, your role, your costs and the backup plan? Leave space for a genuine “not yet.”
